The New Playwright's Workshops

We are looking for an ensemble of actors to work hand in hand with Brown Bag members and playwrights to further develop the plays Marigold, and The Invisible Girls. These will be a series of workshops happening throughout the Fall with a potential stage reading of both plays at the end of the quarter.

The Invisible Girls Written by Luciana Valero

Four young women relive their memories of their friend, Cynthia, who has disappeared without a trace. Eager to reconnect with her, they uncover a story that they kept in silence for years and that may give a hint of what happened to her as well as to bring hopes of finally finding her. Each woman tells a piece of their personal story that Cynthia happened to be a witness, revealing that their struggles are much more

collective than individual.

Marigold Written by Jamie Collazo

A young woman takes on a journey to find herself as she deals with the struggles of a complicated, but close to her heart, relationship that may be holding her back. She will learn that self love is the most important kind of love in her life.

Native Gardens, written by Karen Zacarias

Pablo, a high-powered lawyer, and doctoral candidate Tania, his very pregnant wife, are realizing the American dream when they purchase a house next door to community stalwarts Virginia and Frank. But a disagreement over a long-standing fence line soon spirals into an all-out war of taste, class, privilege, and entitlement. The hilarious results guarantee no one comes out smelling like a rose.
